Come Home on October 6, 2007
On Saturday, October 6, 2007, we will have the fourth annual Honors Homecoming Reception at Dean Garner’s house, 45 Brompton Road, 4:30-6:30 PM. Contact your friends. Arrange to visit. The past three gatherings have been great fun!

Beat the February Blues
February can make people blue. And turning 30 has made some young Honors alumni a little blue. Last year, we fought those blues with a February reunion at Dean Garner's house. The day was so pleasant that we've decided to repeat it. And, of course, all are welcome, including those well past 30 and those who still think that day will never come! Our gathering is tentatively scheduled for the afternoon of Saturday, February 2, 2008. Watch for further updates.

Dean's Reading Circle: For Alumni Too!
Since fall 2000, students have been coming to Dean Garner's house for the Dean's Reading Circle—evenings on which Dean Garner cooks, and everyone enjoys a meal and lively book discussion. Graduating seniors often lament that they can no longer join us for these evenings. That's about to change with our first Alumni Reading Circles. Interested alumni will receive a copy of a book in advance and come to the Dean's house on the scheduled night. The dates—one in the fall and one in the spring—will be posted on the Alumni Events and Honors College Web sites later this summer. Watch for them, and contact Dean Garner for a book!

Honors Scholarship Endowments Grow with Your Support
The third annual Honors Scholarship Campaign ended with great success last Homecoming. Twelve classes contributed more money than ever before. Thirteen classes had more donors than ever, and three others tied their previous records. Last year was the first year that a single class had 20 donors. Kudos to the Class of 2002! The overall number of Honors College alumni donors rose 46 percent, and the total contribution easily surpassed that of the previous two years. Since Dean Garner established the endowments in summer 2004, nearly one-third of Honors College alumni have made at least one gift to the funds.

You will soon receive, or may already have received, a personal letter asking you to contribute to the fourth annual campaign before it concludes on October 6, 2007, the day of our Homecoming Reception. Early contributions have given us a good start at surpassing last year’s records. Please send in your contributions! Remember, all gifts support the permanent endowment where they produce income forever. Your gift will grow and help students every year. Many thanks to all of you who are helping in this important and noble effort.
